About Gemstone : Corundum

Corundum is a crystalline form of aluminium oxide (Al

) with trace of Iron (Fe), Titanium (Ti), Chromium (Cr)

While you might rarely heard about corundum, that make you uninterested in this article T.T

But i'm sure you've heard about ruby and sapphire right ?

Well, Ruby and Sapphire are Corundum, do I get your attention now ?

Corundum is really hard, it's number 9 on mohs scale.

While Mossanite being 9.5 and diamond is 10.

That's explain why sapphire crystal is well known for it's scratch resistant atribute, although the sapphire crystal on watch or phone is lab made, it's still almost no different at all compare to natural sapphire.

Corondum have so many color.

Pinkish red, medium to dark red color varieties are called ruby.

While the other color such as : white, gray, blue, blue-green, green, violet, purple, orange, yellow, yellow-green, brown, golden amber, peachy pink, pink, and black, even colorless are called sapphire.
