About Gemstone : Chalcedony

About Gemstone : Chalcedony

Chalcedony, is basically a quartz in Microcrystalline ( so friggin tiny ) form.

With the Chemical formula SiO2 of Silicone Dioxide

Come with so many color, some a bit monotone for my taste but some other is soooo unique and beautiful.

The color are White, blue, red, green, yellow, orange, brown, pink, purple, gray, black, colorless, and multicolored. Often banded in many different color combinations, and a few rarer forms are iridescent

Its Quartz, so the MOH scale is 7, one scale below topaz.

Sapphire is 9

For comparison, steel nail is around 6.5 in hardness.

This is some variety of Chalcedony that you can find :

  • Agate ( so many amazing kind of agate, you should google them )
  • Carnelian ( I love this one )
  • Chrysocolla
  • Chrysoprase
  • Jasper
  • Dallasite
  • Onyx
  • Sardonyx
  • Petrified Wood
  • Tiger's eye
  • Moss Agate ( Not really agate, and other reason because i love this too, so I put it separately :) )
